Covid-19 Support
Since the onset of COVID-19 in India in March 2020, iamgurgaon aimed to tackle the pandemic and relief efforts were undertaken for those in need.
During the first wave, iamgurgaon partnered with local NGOs like Agarasar, GNEM, Rasoi on Wheels Foundation, etc. to provide food for daily wage earners who had no source of income during the lockdown, as businesses and modes of employment were both suspended. To restrict the community spread of COVID-19, front line workers such as sanitary workers, police staff, and local government hospital workers were provided with safety gear like PPE kits, masks, shields, sanitisers and gloves.
iamgurgaon also joined hands with the Gurgaon COVID-19 Volunteers Group and raised funds to set up the first COVID-19 hospital in Gurgaon. The 120-bed hospital represented a unique collaboration between hospital groups, private corporations, civil society, and the Gurgaon administration. This hospital treated 200+ patients and subsidised care for poor patients who could not afford treatment over a period of 3 months. The local administration was supported with the provision of testing kits and other medical equipment.
As the deadly second wave hit in April 2021, there was a severe need for isolation units, especially for the elderly community of the city who were unable to take care of themselves. iamgurgaon thus joined hands with Emoha, an elder care company, to set up a 60 bed COVID-19 isolation centre in collaboration with Sarovar Hotels and Fortis Healthcare in the first week of May 2021 in Gurgaon.
