Chakkarpur Wazirabad Bundh

This is a 5.2km urban mobility corridor made on a very old bundh. It brings you a glimpse of the Aravali bhood, a distinctive, though forgotten, landscape of Gurugram. This forest has been created with the planting of trees and shrubs that are native to the Aravalis. An inclusive space, it is open to people from all walks of life. The bundh acts as a self-sustaining landscape and carbon sink; it’s an ideal place to appreciate the rhythm, beauty and complexity of nature.

The Badshahpur Forest Corridor

Gurugram, home to over 2.5 million, despite its rapid growth lacks city level public open space. Where land and water flows have been subsumed by development and the fallout is drainage systems that fail with every rain, and construction and waste debris pile up, the Badshahpur Corridor project is a small step towards acknowledging ‘the story of Gurgaon, the circle of waste and the journey of water’ in a designed public open space.

aravali park

Aravalli Biodiversity Park, Gurugram

Over 380 acres of a once severely degraded mining site have been completely restored into an urban forest with over 400 plants, trees, shrubs, creepers & grasses. The Park is becoming a small sanctuary of endangered and rare plants of the Northern Aravallis, most of which Haryana is losing rapidly to development and encroachments. In the last seven years, the Park has become a favoured habitat for birds, e-bird has listed 195 species and wild animals (jungle cat, common palm civet, jackal, porcupine, neelgai and various kinds of butterflies & reptiles) of Gurugram.nature.

project four

Sikanderpur Forest Trails and Watershed

Sikanderpur is spread over 80 acres, stretched up to the Gurgaon-Faridabad road. It is a historical village on Delhi-Gurgaon border, next to which is a large pond, created by blockage of a seasonal stream that originated in the hills behind the residential colony. In its current form, the pond is a cesspool of sewage and waste water it receives from the Sikanderpur village, and neighbouring office complexes. It was covered by water hyacinths and has been encroached on several sides by migrant labourers who have settled in the area. The objective of the project is to develop the Sikanderpur pond and watershed into a wetland and biodiversity hotspot, with clean water and forestation to create a green lung for Gurgaon while providing a public space in a natural environment for leisure and community activities.

2019

Waste is a looming problem that threatens to poison every aspect of our lives from the air we breathe to the water we drink, and the soil we rely on. We consume without a thought, carelessly discarding our possessions, never pausing to consider the fate of our trash. But where does it all go? The city of Gurgaon alone sends out 220 truckloads of garbage every day, and our landfills are teetering on the brink of collapse.
