The proposal to construct roads through the Aravali Biodiversity Park has been revived by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has revived the plan to build twin link roads through the Aravalli Biodiversity (ABD) Park. The move comes almost six months after the project was shelved following protests from citizens and environmentalists who cautioned that any construction in this zone would disturb the ecology of the city’s only urban forest and green lung. The concern had found political backing at the time.

The NHAI, on Monday, said that on March 27 it was asked by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to revise the alignment of the proposed roads so minimum area of the park, 380 acres of deemed forest, is affected by the project
